About Chancellor
Dr. Debapriya Dutta, with a Ph.D. from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, started his impactful career with the National Agricultural Research Service of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) before moving to the Central Soil and Water Conservation Research and Training Institute, Dehradun. Joining the Natural Resources Data Management System (NRDMS) Division in 1994, he held key positions such as Senior Scientific Officer-I and Scientist ‘F’ / Director until 2008. His tenure as Counsellor (Science and Technology) at the Embassy of India, Washington D.C. from 2008-2012 saw him shaping India-USA Science and Technology Cooperation in crucial sectors. Transitioning to the Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR) from 2012-2015, he facilitated groundbreaking collaborative research between India and France.

He retired as a Head and Adviser/Scientist ‘G’ at the Science for Equity Empowerment and Development (SEED), State Science and Technology Programme (SSTP), and National Geospatial Programme (NGP) divisions of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, Dr. Dutta continues to drive advancements in Geo-informatics for Natural Resources Management. His expertise extends to Watershed management technologies, Geo-information Management, and Capacity Building for Local Level Planning, all aimed at furthering Sustainable Development Goals. Dr. Dutta's contributions include numerous publications and three authored books, showcasing his commitment to scientific advancement and international collaboration.
